The Tyee is once again offering five $5,000 fellowships for independent journalists interested in tackling an in-depth reporting project on a topic that will "educate and engage" citizens of British Columbia.

Successful applicants to the Tyee Investigative and Solutions Reporting Fellowships will produce a series of reported articles – at least three, each running at least 1,000 words – for The Tyee. The fellowships are largely reader-funded – a familiar funding tactic for the B.C. online news organization, which has dubbed those who donate to its general reporting pool as Tyee Builders.

More information about the fellowships can be found here and here, and includes examples of the reporting that past Tyee fellows have undertaken on the fellowships.

The application deadline for the fellowships is Nov. 15, 2012 and winners will be announced in Jan. 2013 after being judged by an independent advisory board.
