The results of the U.S. midterm elections led many Canadian world sections Wednesday.

The Globe and Mail ran its election coverage above the fold on its front page. The story by Paul Koring ran under the headline ‘‘White House faces paralysis as Republicans take the Senate.’’ The Globe ran a four-column photo of Sen. Mitch McConnell on top of the Washington-placelined story. The story had a throw to the inside.

The National Post ran the headline ‘‘Republicans take control of Senate’’ above the fold on its front page. The accompanying story was reported by Tom Blackwell and had a throw to the inside.

The CBC ran its election coverage on top of the online world section of the broadcaster’s website. The Associated Press story ran under the headline ‘‘U.S. midterm election: Republicans roll to Senate victory’’ and featured a three-minute video along with a text piece.

Global News topped its online world section with a Washington-placelined story about the midterm elections results. The story was reported by The Canadian Press and featured both video and text.

The Toronto Star ran a flag about the U.S. elections with a throw to the inside below the fold on its front page. The story was reported by Mitch Potter of the Star’s Washington bureau and ran under the headline ‘‘Republicans seize the balance of power.’’

CTV News topped the world section of its website with an AP story about reports from Norwegian intelligence authorities that the country is likely to be threatened or hit by a terror attack within the next 12 months. The story ran under the headline ‘‘Norway says terror attack ‘likely’ as result of joining U.S.-led alliance.’’
