History was made on Oct. 1 as Jagmeet Singh became the first person of colour elected as the head of a federal political party. The news came during a weekend that was not lacking for major events. Two separate terrorist attacks shook Edmonton and Las Vegas, and in Spain, citizens clashed with police as people voted in the Catalan referendum.
