By Bruce Gillespie, Editor-in-Chief

I’m pleased to welcome Charles Hays as J-Source’s new Education Editor.

Hays is an assistant professor in the department of journalism, communication and new media at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C. He came to Thompson Rivers after 25 years as a broadcast journalist in community, public and commercial radio and television in the U.S. He teaches courses in career preparation, multimedia production and advanced media theory. He is also the program’s practicum coordinator, where he oversees a range of experiential learning opportunities.

You can read Hays’s first contribution to J-Source, about the Community News Collective at Thompson Rivers, here.

Hays replaces Melanie Coulson, who did a great job with the section last year and whom we thank for her contribution to the site.

If you have any education-related ideas for J-Source, please get in touch with Hays at chays@tru.ca.
