J-schools and the digital age
Journalism educators everywhere are struggling to keep up with the rapid changes taking place in newsrooms and the media industry. The University of Maryland's Philip Meril College of Journalism is hosting a conference in October to bring journalists and educators together to discuss how well journalism schools are meeting the digital challenge.
Journalism Interactive 2011 will take place from October 28-29, 2011. Confirmed speakers so far include: Jeff Jarvis, of CUNY's Graduate School of Journalism; Amy Webb, CEO of WebbMedia Group; Mark S. Luckie, the National Innovations Editor for the Washington Post; and Alfred Hermida, an assistant professor of journlaism at the University of British Columbia.

This sounds like a wonderful conference but I can't attend -- it starts while I'm in the classroom. What value are conferences like these when we can't easily take part in them?
