Newman's new prime-time program will also add Colin Horgan starting Aug. 5. Horgan has written for iPolitics, the Guardian and Maclean's.

The time slot will be familiar territory for Newman, who anchored the Global National newscast for 10 years prior to joining CTV. Newman's long broadcasting career includes stints at ABC News and the CBC. He's won two Emmy Awards for his work and is a two-time Gemini Award winner for Canada's Best Anchor. And in 2008 he picked up another Gemini for Best Newscast.
