La Presse reaches deal with three unions
ShareThisMontreal newspaper La Presse has reached an agreement in principle with three unions including the union that handles editorial and newsroom staff, CBC News reports.
According to the CBC report, a deal was struck at about 3:30 a.m. on Nov.20 and no details will be announced until the agreement is finalized.
In early September, La Presse threatened to shut down if a cost-cutting agreement couldn't be reached with the eight unions the paper deals with.
At the end of October, the paper reached a deal with four of the eight unions (advertising, preparation, internal printing and boiler room).
The current, tentative deal includes three of the four remaining unions, but does not include the union representing distribution workers.
