The first winners of a new fellowship in journalism education were announced Thursday, May 10, 2012

The first Michener-Deacon Fellowship in journalism education has been awarded to two Ottawa women who will pursue two very different projects for four months.

Melanie Coulson, senior online editor at the Ottawa Citizen will conduct research into the growing phenomenon of audience participation in the journalism produced by media enterprises.

Laura Eggertson, a freelance journalist, will investigate Aboriginal youth suice as a significant health crisis in Canada.
