What gives?

The online petition asks Ottawa “to do everything in its power to bring
home Canadian journalist Amanda Lindhout and her Australian colleague
Nigel Brennan. The two journalists were kidnapped in Somalia while
covering the civil war there, and have been held hostage for ransom for
over a year.”

The campaign was begun by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, and joined by the Canadian Association of Journalists, Canadian Media Guild, the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada, and PEN Canada.
