The Record began publishing on Feb. 9, 1897, as the only daily newspaper in Sherbrooke, Que.. Launched by businessman Leonard Channell as the Sherbrooke Daily Record, it is one of the two last surviving English-language daily newspapers in the province, along with the Montreal Gazette.
