Veteran weekend news anchor Kimothy Walker has left CTV News Ottawa after 25 years with the station.

In her final broadcast on March 28, Walker said she wants to focus more on documentary filmmaking, fundraising and volunteering.

“It is my privilege to have been a part of bringing the news to so many people during my time spent with CTV Ottawa. I am proud to have had the opportunity to serve as a modern-day storyteller, to share the lives of our viewers with each other, and to help affect positive change in our communities,” Walker said in a press release. “I was 20 years old when I first walked through the doors of CJOH-TV with big glasses and wild hair; and since I have been to the jungles of the Philippines, to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, to Kenya, and sped over the capital in a B-1 bomber.”

Walker is a graduate of Carleton University’s School of Journalism in Ottawa. She began her career with CTV’s student apprenticeship program and rose through the ranks to become a reporter, producer and an anchor for CTV Ottawa.

“Kimothy has left a resounding mark on both the CTV Ottawa team and our community,” said Peter Angione, news director of CTV Ottawa. “We are thankful that Kimothy chose to be a part of our family, and for her years of commitment and dedicated service. We wish her every success with her next challenge.”
