An activist organization as defined for this pathfinder is one that advocates, organizes and agitates for progressive social change. It must not rely on government or corporate funding, but must find most of its funding through donations or its own earning power. Organizations, regardless of scope, are categorized according to main focus. A list of activist media resources and distribution channelsis also included. An activist media resource as defined for this pathfinder is one that seeks to provide a progressive and alternative viewpoint that is missing from mainstream, corporate or government-owned media resources, with the added goal of connecting and strengthening the bond between activists, activist organizations and the public at large. Canada's central bank is a Crown corporation responsible for monetary policy, bank notes, the financial system and funds management. Their mission is to "promote the economic and financial welfare of Canada." The website contains information about the bank and how it operates, financial markets, rates and statistics, resources for the media, press releases and other publications.

The Wikileaks website is envisioned as a resource for the anonymous leaking of confidential government documents on a global scale. As of January 2007, the site boasted over 1.2 million documents from "dissident communities and anonymous sources."
