Starting March 22, a business venture hopes to launch the first of 3,000 community websites in the hopes of capitalizing on hyperlocal trends. The idea, called Main Street Connect, is meant to take advantage of local businesses to advertise on local sites. Rather than selling clicks, the company hopes to market communities to advertisers.

Not sure how this is different than any other weekly chain with a web presence.

While the magazine has done some motion material for its online magazine previously, the new concept is absolutely mindboggling.

Have a look at how motion animation integrates with text. And, it is interesting to hear how the magazine continues to consider itself a print-based medium.

Toronto News 24 is a new local internet video news site making its own mark in the growing and competitive world of hyperlocal news in the GTA.
