Digital News Innovation Challenge: Framing the Challenge

The Digital News Innovation Challenge (DNIC) is a partnership that brings together the RSJ, the DMZ and the Facebook Journalism Project in support of digital news ideas and early-stage tech companies driving innovation for journalism and news organizations.

The official call for applications kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 1 pm at the DMZ Sandbox in the SLC with a conference on the state of news in Canada and around the world called Framing the Challenge. Broadcaster and producer Jesse Wente is delivering the keynote address.

The half-day symposium consists of an opening panel on the DNIC competition and discussions throughout the afternoon on audiences, local news, social platforms and business models featuring speakers from the BBC, CBC, CPAC, BuzzFeed, National Observer and more.
