A new study has concluded that "online editions are not the death knell for printed newspapers." The report from the Newspaper Audience Databank Inc. (NADbank) reports that 80% of Canadian online readers read printed editions of newspapers, and only 6% of newspaper readers only get their news online.

Global Toronto has hired Antony Robart for its weekend evening news show, beginning March 26, Broadcaster reports. Robart is a seasoned news reporter for Global (he's worked there since 2004, and previously for ABC News and CBC News), and is replacing anchor Carolyn MacKenzie while she is on maternity leave.

After six fruitless months spent chasing an unpaid invoice from The Globe and Mail, freelance journalist Nino Ricci wrote the paper an open letter. Ricco wrote a travel story for the Globe's much-hyped Oct 2 redesign issue.  He's yet to be paid.

In a hilariously understated tone, Ricci describes his contract with the paper ("At The Globe’s insistence I was also allowed to put all my expenses on my own credit card rather than on The Globe’s, thus accumulating points toward eventual free travel.")
