2021 CJF awards and fellowships now open for applications
The Canadian Journalism Foundation is now accepting submissions for its 2021 awards and fellowship programs.
This year, CJF introduced three new awards and programs, including a fellowship for early-career Black journalists, a climate solution award and a digital innovation award.
The CJF Black Journalism Fellowship Program offers three opportunities: the CJF-CBC/Radio-Canada Black Journalism Fellowship, CJF-CBC/Radio-Canada Black Women’s Journalism Fellowship and CJF-CTV News Black Journalism Fellowship.
This program “seeks to amplify Black voices, improve coverage of Black issues in the news and cultivate future Black media leaders by providing unique opportunities for early-career Black journalists.”
Fellows will be hosted for 6 months at CBC/Radio-Canada and CTV newsrooms.
The CJF Award for Climate Solutions Reporting offers a $10,000 prize for excellence in climate change reporting.
The CJF-Facebook Journalism Project Digital News Innovation Award celebrates innovation in digital journalism – from new formats for audiences to data-driven storytelling – with a prize of $10,000. This award is offered in partnership with the Facebook Journalism Project.
The CJF also hosts its usual cohort of awards, including the CJF Jackman Award for Excellence in Journalism, CJF Lifetime Achievement Award, The Landsberg Award, CJF-CBC Indigenous Journalism Fellowships and the Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award.
