CAJ highlights the stories laid-off Postmedia journalists told
90 people are without jobs as a result of Jan. 19’s newsroom mergers and cuts.

The Canadian Association of Journalists is using its Twitter to highlight the best stories told by laid-off Postmedia staffers.
On Jan. 19, Postmedia announced it was cutting 90 positions across the chain and merging newsrooms in Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. However, the company’s tabloid and broadsheet properties will keep operating in both markets.
“Cuts of any magnitude, in any newsroom, diminish the public’s right to know,” said CAJ President Nick Taylor-Vaisey in a statement. “Postmedia readers will, without a doubt, be left in the dark more often as a result of these cuts. Full stop.”
That’s why the CAJ decided to promote pieces that shone a light on a story that needed to be told.
