Calgary Herald launches redesign Tuesday
The Herald is the third Postmedia newspaper to be redesigned as part of the company’s four-platform strategy.

The Calgary Herald launched its redesigned newspaper, website, mobile app and tablet edition on Tuesday.
The Herald is the third Postmedia newspaper to be redesigned. The Montreal Gazette’s new look launched last month and The Ottawa Citizen was the first to be redesigned in May.
The new, blue masthead image on the top left of the newspaper is an abstract representation of the Rocky Mountains.
Parrish said Calgary’s tablet edition, which will be released weekdays at 6 p.m., will be free for the first three months through a partnership with Nissan.
“For many years, we have been offering readers what is essentially the same information on all of our platforms,” Herald editor Lorne Motley said in a statement. “We are now tailoring information to what our audiences have told us they’re interested in reading based on how they access the Herald.”
In a note to readers, Motley said existing tablet and smartphone apps that were created several years ago will continue to be updated daily, as they were before.
More Postmedia redesigns are expected in the next 11 to 14 months.
