NADbank is reporting Canadian newspaper readership remains “strong”, based on major market readership data it collected in fall 2007 and spring 2008.  The newspaper research organization, funded by newspapers and newspaper advertisers, reported in a press release (pdf) that weekly newspaper readership (“read” at least one print or online issue in the past week) ranged from 76 per cent of adults in Toronto to 82 per cent in Ottawa-Gatineau. Those who reported reading a print newspaper “yesterday” – which may be a more telling measure of regular daily newspaper readership – ranged from 45 per cent in Toronto to 52 per cent in Vancouver and Ottawa-Gatineau. Weekly online readership ranged from 15 per cent in Vancouver to 24 per cent in Ottawa-Gatineau.
