Globe and Mail wins big at 2017 Online Journalism Awards
The Globe and Mail was a big winner at the 2017 Online Journalism Awards on Oct. 7, 2017.
The newspaper won four awards total, including the award for general excellence in online journalism for a large newsroom. They tied with the New York Times for most wins by any organization.
In a statement posted on the Globe and Mail website, editor-in-chief David Walmsley said it was a tremendous honour to be singled out. “These awards reaffirm our commitment to impactful, memorable work. They are a credit to the newsroom, which has been as courageous in its reporting as it has been enthusiastic in its embrace of innovation,” he wrote.
Unfounded, the Globe’s investigation into how police services investigate sexual assault, won two awards.
The Toronto Star was a finalist in three categories, one of which was a collaborative project with University of British Columbia, The Guardian, BBC and the International Reporting Program.
