Trusted and accurate information helps communities make sense of their experiences and engage with the issues that impact them. But how do we know if local news and information systems respond to a community’s needs? This session is an invitation for community philanthropy to reimagine the role local media and information systems play in serving communities. Participants will learn about examples of how this is already happening in Canada and will have an opportunity to discuss ways to support more equitable local news systems that reflect diverse perspectives and contribute to community priorities. The session will be co-hosted by the Hamilton Community Foundation and the Inspirit Foundation.
