Shared Bylines x New Feeling: Pitch Panel & IRL Social
Join Shared Bylines and New Feeling on Monday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. ET at beautiful Massey College for a night of real talk on pitching and freelancing, plus a chance to book 1-on-1 speed-pitching slots with our amazing panel of guests.
We’re also celebrating! It’s the first IRL event for both New Feeling and Shared Bylines – which are both in their third year – so come out and raise a glass (we’ll have some complimentary snacks and a cash bar) with your fellow journos.
WHERE: Massey College, 4 Devonshire Place, Toronto
WHEN: Monday, October 30, 6:30 p.m.
THE PANEL: How do you turn a great story idea into a great freelance pitch? What’s the best way to approach an editor? Whose DMs should you slide into? Inori Roy (associate editor, The Local), Fatima Syed (Ontario reporter, The Narwhal), Adrian Lee (opinions editor, The Globe and Mail) and Tabassum Siddiqui (freelance journalist, New Feeling public editor & Shared Bylines organizer) will break down the best tips and advice they’ve learned as top-tier writers and editors. Sharpen your own pitches while learning what your editors are probably thinking.
THE (SPEED) PITCH: After the talk, stick around for some food and drink. Meanwhile, our panelists will be available for 10- to 15-minute slots to help you workshop your latest pitch. Email sharedbylines@gmail.com with your short elevator pitch (subject: Massey pitch) & we’ll connect you with one of our guests to go over your idea.
Hope to see you there!
