By Bruce Gillespie, Editor-in-Chief

Chantal Braganza will join TVO’s Current Affairs and Documentaries team, handling online current affairs coverage. She will edit the public broadcaster’s new Shared Values section, which looks at issues of inclusivity, social justice and diversity.

During her time at J-Source, Braganza has worked tirelessly to produce insightful, in-depth reporting about Canadian journalism and maintain a lively and provocative mix of stories on our site. Her last day will be August 14.

This means we’re hiring a new associate editor for J-Source. You can find a link to the online job description and application here.

This is a full-time, unionized position based at J-Source’s Editorial Centre at Ryerson University, in Toronto. The associate editor reports and writes four to five pieces of original content for the site a week and seeks out other relevant news, opinion, analysis and resources of interest to Canadian journalists, scholars and students.

The associate editor also produces our weekly e-newsletter, copyedits all of the content on our site, manages our Twitter and Facebook feeds and co-ordinates the contributions of volunteer editors and writers across the country.

It is a big, busy job, ideally suited to someone with a strong passion for Canadian journalism. The successful candidate should have a degree or diploma in journalism and/or at least one year of experience as a reporter. A working knowledge of Drupal will also be an asset.

Applications are due by 4:30 pm on Wednesday, August 19. Please note that while the job is known internally at Ryerson as an editorial assistant, it is indeed the associate editor of J-Source.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
