Hi everyone,
In light of what Jian Ghomeshi said in court today and Kathryn Borel’s subsequent statement, we wanted to reach out and let you know, as we did in April 2015, that we deeply regret that this kind of behaviour ever happened at our workplace. That said, we also feel it’s important to not lose sight of the progress we’ve made to help build a safer and more respectful workplace.
Just over a year ago, we released the Rubin report, an independent investigation into our workplace. Some of these recommendations still require more work but we’ve made progress in all areas including new training, a helpline, policy renewal and staff surveys. Our progress over the past year has set a strong foundation for what’s next: a broader conversation around culture with a clear focus on a healthy climate to support the wellbeing of all employees of CBC/Radio-Canada. In early June, many of our leaders coming across the organization will get together to discuss this in more detail and take it to another level.
We hope that you feel we’re in a better place now and that CBC/Radio-Canada continues to be a great place to work.
