World Press Freedom Canada’s nominations for the 2023 Press Freedom Award are now open.
The awards honors a journalist or media worker for making an outstanding contribution to press freedom in Canada during 2022.
The annual Press Freedom Awards will be presented at the WPFC’s gala luncheon in Ottawa on May 3.
Journalist Fatima Syed and Tai Huynh, editor-in-chief and publisher of The Local, were joint winners of the 2022 award for their coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic in Peel region. A citation of merit was awarded to Aboriginal Peoples Television Network reporter Kathleen Martens.
