Postmedia is set to move into its new corporate HQ in Toronto on Dec. 1 this year. J-Source has an inside look at the construction and artist renderings of the new space at 365 Bloor St. E.

Earlier this week, Postmedia employees got an update on their new Toronto digs. Here is what you need to know about the new headquarters:

Location: 365 Bloor Street East. Built in 1972, the 19-storey building is comprised of 265,000 square feet.

Why Postmedia employees will probably like it: The current space at 1450 Don Mills, near York Mills, is kind of far from downtown and not exactly that easy to get to using public transit. As the internal memo says, "the new building has great access to transit and major roadways including the Don Valley Parkway. The Sherbourne subway station is only a one minute walk to the building and the Yonge subway station is a short eight minute walk."

The big move: Dec. 1, 2013. The move is expected to be completed by the end of February 2014, but the exact timing of when groups will move and in what order is still being worked through.

How many floors will the company occupy? Postmedia has leased the following five floors in the building. The mailroom and loading dock are housed on the main floor. National Post staff will be on the third floor, canada.com on the fifth floor and the executives on the 12th floor.

Why is Postmedia relocating? (Aside from the better location for commuters): Postmedia says it makes the best business sense for it to lease office space instead of owning the property. "When looking at our corporate headquarters at 1450 Don Mills and how the space was being underutilized, the decision was made to sell the property and apply the net proceeds to our debt repayment." The memo added that with the new building's "modern and sleek look, our new corporate head office will give a more positive impression to clients and visitors and provide a comfortable and collaborative working environment for employees."

Ongoing construction: The main floor lobby area and elevator lobbies on each floor as well as extensive renovations to the underground parking garage.

New neighbours: Rogers and Shaw are a few blocks away.
