Globalnews.ca is currently seeking a Social Media Strategist to join their dynamic team. This position reports directly to the Manager, Digital Products.
Social media is now core to the future of news. We are looking for the dynamic individual who can lead our social strategy. The Social Media Strategist will be required to develop and execute globalnews.ca’s social media strategy, with the goal increasing traffic through social referrals and user engagement. The successful candidate can research the latest trends, look deeply into the analytics, craft a winning strategy, and then work with the team to execute it.
Additionally, the Social Media Strategist, will assist Manager, Digital Products in achieving traffic goals and building relationships with a variety of key internal and external stakeholders, including local and national broadcast news managers, digital product development, marketing, and promotions teams. This position will be based at 81 Barber Greene Road in Toronto.

Key accountabilities
•Review and evaluate social analytics to gain strategic insights and develop recommendations to improve social account performance as it relates to specific traffic-driving efforts.
•Use analytics to make strategic and tactical recommendations.
•Develop new ways to integrate social into all Global News products.
•Benchmark, measure and analyze results of organic social and social marketing initiatives.
•Monitor social marketing performance relative to budget and forecast.
•Constantly research and implement best practices.
•Identify and report on key performance indicators, and opportunities for improvement on a regular basis
•Work with national and local digital/broadcast teams to develop best practice guidelines, policies and training to support social and SEO content strategies for Global News.
•Advise on the impact of developments, trends, and new platforms in social media.
•Identify opportunities to maximize traffic, community and promotion of our content and brand.
•Maintain and enforce journalistic best-practices that uphold Global News principles and practices.
•Must stay informed of local, national and international news and have a passion for current events.
Experience and Skills:
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
•At least 5 years experience in online media or equivalent, with a minimum 3 years of digital news experience.
•Proven track record driving growth against business objectives on time and on budget.
•Expertise in using Google, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Hootsuite, Omniture, Mailchimp or other analytics packages to craft winning campaigns, set KPIs and track performance.
•Excellent SEO skills.
•Demonstrated expertise in Social Media strategy and execution.
•Experience in product development an asset.
•Must be able to work collaboratively and inspire and influence those around them.
•In-depth knowledge of established and emerging social platforms.
•Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
