Andrew Chang, former host of CBC News Montreal, will anchor the 5 and 6 p. m. newscasts at CBC News Vancouver.

Chang has been with the public broadcaster for a decade and got his start as a staff reporter. Chang left CBC News Montreal to go on paternity leave on May 30. Most recently, he hosted CBC Radio One's The Current while host Anna Maria Tremonti was on summer leave.

"Andrew has a gift for interviewing and analysis. He can break down a story like few others can," said Johnny Michel, senior managing director for CBC British Columbia and Alberta, in a press release. "His passion for news coupled with a strong technical background in editing, shooting and programming positions him perfectly for where the future of broadcasting is going—multiple skills in a multiplatform environment."

Chang will begin his new role with CBC News Vancouver on Sept. 1.

"The team at CBC Vancouver has proven time and time again that they are the best at investigative and original journalism," said Chang. "I am looking forward to being part of the team."

Meanwhile, Gloria Macarenko, who currently anchors the Vancouver evening newscasts, will become the new host of CBC Radio One's The Story From Here, which was previously hosted by the now-retired Tony Parsons. Macarenko will continue to host the weekly current affairs show, Our Vancouver, and is developing a regular segment on CBC News Vancouver showcasing one-on-one interviews.

"This is an incredible time of change for the CBC and the industry in general," Macarenko said. "I believe with every change comes opportunity. I look forward to adding radio to my role."

She will start her new hosting role on Sept. 3, and her new interview segments on CBC News Vancouver will start to air in mid-September.

"Gloria will continue to be a strong part of CBC Vancouver. She will move seamlessly through all platforms doing what she does best, connecting with people and telling their stories," said Michel. "Gloria is an iconic part of Vancouver and the CBC. We are fortunate to have such an amazing person on our team."

Macarenko celebrated her 25th anniversary with CBC this year.
