Lucht, who was the executive producer of Ideas and Tapestry, retired from CBC Radio on July 31.

Bernie Lucht, who was the executive producer of Ideas and Tapestry, retired from CBC Radio on July 31.

He was with the public broadcaster for almost 50 years. Lucht was also involved in the annual production of The CBC Massey Lectures in partnership with Massey College, at the University of Toronto, and House of Anansi Press. In 2013, he became a member of the Order of Canada and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

He has been appointed a distinguished visiting professor with the RTA School of Media at Ryerson University, in Toronto, for the upcoming academic year.
