The Knight Fellowships program encourages journalistic innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership. Jawoko’s proposal looks at a portal that facilitates connections and helps incubate ideas among East African journalists, according to the program website.

Canadian freelance journalist Kennedy Jawoko been named one of the eight international Knight Journalism Fellows.

Jawoko’s work has previously appeared in CBC’s Dispatches, Toronto Star and AMÖI Magazine, and is currently a lecturer at George Brown College and Ryerson University. He holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University.
