The Next 50 Years of Investigative Journalism

November 28 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

J-Source

Join us in a collaborative event with Canada’s flagship investigative documentary show, The Fifth Estate, as CBC News celebrates 50 seasons of groundbreaking investigative journalism, looking at both how far we’ve come and where we’re going.

Since its premiere in 1975, The Fifth Estate has been a crucial part of the news landscape in Canada with its fearless and provocative, impactful journalism. While the world has changed in innumerable ways, holding power accountable remains a core tenet of what it continues to do.

An opening reception will kick off the evening. Opening remarks will be provided by Bob McKeown, CM, co-host of The Fifth Estate, followed by an advance screening of “The Fifth Estate: 50 Years of Truth.” A panel discussion on the future of investigative journalism will feature The Fifth Estate co-hosts Mark Kelley and Steven D’Souza, BBC News Investigative correspondent Rianna Croxford, and Globe and Mail reporter Robyn Doolittle, moderated by author and host of CBC Radio Commotion Elamin Abdelmahmoud.
