EveryBlock is using an interesting combination of news aggregators off the web and data collection to feed highly localized news to communities within three major U.S. cities. It does not use reporters, per se, but collects information from web sources, from news organization to building permits from city hall and presents them to the audience.

The creators are saying this may be another version of the future of community  journalism.
