On April 20, the Canadian Journalism Foundation announced the short list for the inaugural year of its Innovation Award for an individual news organization advancing the quality of journalism produced in Canada today.

The shortlist includes:

CBC News, for its recently launched news app that customizes news delivery for local audiences.

Emergent, Craig Silverman’s news organization and project which tracks the validity of rumours that turn into emerging news stories.

La Presse, for its production of its free-subscription tablet edition La Presse +

The winner will be announced at the CJF Awards on June 3 at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. More information about the awards is available here
