The winners of the National Newspaper Awards were announced on May 27 in Edmonton.
The annual awards celebrate the achievements of journalists at daily newspapers, news agencies and online news sites.
The Globe and Mail won nine of 21 categories. Globe and Mail journalist Joanna Slater, who covered the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe, won Journalist of the Year.
