The winners of the 2017 National Newspaper Awards were announced on May 4, 2018.

The Globe and Mail won six of 21 categories, followed by the Toronto Star and La Presse, each with four wins.

According to the NNA website, of the 21 nominations, “five were won by ground-breaking investigative efforts – including probes into how police forces deal with sexual assault complaints, a man’s claims of innocence after more than three decades in prison, and Canada’s surprising role as a tax haven for the global elite.”

Robyn Doolittle, an investigative reporter at the Globe and Mail, won the NNA for investigations and was recognized as journalist of the year.
