Memo: Globe and Mail moving to new office
I am pleased to announce that The Globe and Mail’s new headquarters will be located at 351 King Street East in downtown Toronto. The Globe will occupy the top five floors of this 17 story office building, which will be named The Globe and Mail Centre. We expect to begin moving at the end of fall 2016.
Our new building has never been just that. From the beginning, two and half years ago, when we first started dreaming of a move to a better place, a new building has always represented a symbol of faith in our future.
At a time when our industry is surrounded by uncertainty, where the only certainty is rapid change, the creation of a new home for The Globe and its principal asset, its people, creates a vision full of promise and opportunity.
Of course it will feel good to occupy an office that is fit for purpose in the 21st century. But the greatest value, and biggest benefit for all of us, will come from the change in culture that will be reinforced with the new surroundings. With your input, the spaces will be designed to encourage collaboration and flexibility.
Old habits die hard, but many people at The Globe are already working to effect the shift in attitudes and behaviour required to ensure we take full advantage of what awaits us at 351 King Street East.
Others may be going downhill fast, but we are going up in the world – to the 13th floor and above.
I invite you to learn more about our new home by visiting MyGlobe and reading the FAQ.
As well, join us tomorrow for our FY2014 kick off town hall sessions, where we’ll provide more details about our new building. A full page ad announcing the location of our new home will also appear in the inside back cover of tomorrow`s News section.
