Lovely guy, Mike, but he got it all wrong: Avoiding Chomsky and eschewing critical thinking is not the formula for success in journalism. It does, however, seem to be the formula for getting noticed by Stephen Harper when he’s looking to fill a Senate seat.

Senator Duffy says he learned important stuff, such as the significance of fair and balanced, at the school of hard knocks. By golly, Mike didn’t have to go to school for that. Fox News preaches it regularly.

Poor Duffy. After an
Poor Duffy. After an impressive early career, he’s even more out-of-touch now than when he hosted the Baton show through the ’90s or Mike Duffy Live on CTV Newsnet. Among thinking journalists, he’d become a sycophant in love with his image. Now he claims J-schools teach only from a couple of left-wing texts. Once upon a time, he was a reporter who would have done some research before he unleashed knee-jerk rants like that. Before they dismiss him outright as a dumbass windbag, I hope broadcast instructors will show their students some of his early work. A lesson in how once-talented journalists can atrophy.
