Nominations have opened for the 2019 Joan Hollobon Award for health reporting, presented by the Canadian Press Relations Society.

The award, named after the esteemed medical reporter who retired from the Globe and Mail in 1986, is offered annually to a member of the media whose work has contributed to the public’s understanding of the Canadian health care system. The honour will be presented at the CPRS National Conference, which will take place June 16-18 in Edmonton.

Previous recipients of the award include Ottawa Citizen journalist Elizabeth Payne, and Catherine Whitnall, the health beat reporter for Kawartha Lakes This Week.

The applications to nominate a journalist whose work has appeared in either print or digital media since January 2018 are due March 29, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. For more information, visit the CPRS website.
