The winners of the 2018 Fraser MacDougall Prize for Best New Canadian Voice in Human Rights Reporting were announced on Sept. 11.

Jasnit Pabla and Nick Pearce, journalists at the Queen’s Journal, Queen’s University’s student newspaper, won the award for their story “Truth & Reconciliation at Queen’s, a year later

“This year’s jury selected this piece because of the story’s thorough reporting, and how it effectively contextualized an issue of national importance for maximum local impact,” stated the National NewsMedia Council and Journalists for Human Rights in a statement.

The Fraser MacDougall Award recognizes excellence in human rights reporting published in campus-based media.
