George Christopoulos will start his new job as Mayor Rob Ford’s press secretary on Feb. 6, according to reports.
Christopoulos is currently a communications coordinator for the Toronto Police and previously worked at the Toronto Sun as a journalist for over a decade. City Hall was one of the beats that Christopoulos covered up until he left the paper in 2003.
Ford has been without a press secretary since Adrienne Batra left City Hall to take a job as the Sun’s comment editor in December.[node:ad]
Christopoulos will likely have a busy first few days on the job. The National Post notes that he will be starting the day after city workers could legally go on strike or be locked out, in light of the labour dispute that has been ongoing with the City.
