Seamus O’Regan quietly left CTV National News
If you’re wondering why Seamus O’Regan is now filling in on Astral’s Newstalk 1010 shows, it’s because the CTV National correspondent left the show last year. His quiet departure was quite the contrast to the great fanfare with which his move from host of Canada AM to CTV News was announced in November 2011.
O’Regan did not divulge his reasons for leaving, but said in a email to J-Source that he was “working on new programming for CTV” and that he “just needed a change. All good.”
CTV News president Wendy Freeman confirmed O’Regan has not been working with National News since last year. His most recent story for CTV National, accessible through ctv.ca, is dated Nov. 4, 2012, almost exactly one year to his arrival.

However, in a press release sent by Bell Canada for its Let Talk campaign on mental health in January for which O’Regan was named one of the faces of the ad campaign, O’Regan is identified as a CTV National correspondent.
O’Regan was host of Canada AM for 10 years.
