Submissions are open for the 2021 Dalton Camp Award
Entries are now open for the 2021 Dalton Camp Award, presented by Friends of Canadian Broadcasting.
Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada are eligible for the $10,000 prize, which is awarded for the best essay of up to 2,000 words on the relationship between media and democracy.
A secondary prize of $2,500 will be awarded to the top essay written by a student enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution.
There is no fee to enter submissions.
Recipients are selected by jury, this year including Michael Barclay, Candis Callison, Kathy English, Jane Hilderman, Omar Mouallem, Hannah Sung and Radiyah Chowdhury, who was awarded the 2020 prize for her winning submission, “The Forever Battle Of A Journalist of Colour.”
FOCB created the award in 2002 to honour the memory of Dalton Camp — political strategist, current affairs commentator and founding member of the media advocacy group’s advisory council.
For more information about how to apply, visit FOCB’s website and submit your essay here. Submissions close on Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. EST.
