FRIENDS (formerly FRIENDS of Canadian Broadcasting) has opened applications for the annual Dalton Camp Award, a $10,000 prize for the best essay on the link between media and democracy and a $2,500 student prize.

Submissions, which must be in English and up to 2,000 in length, are judged anonymously by a selection committee.

2022 Dalton Camp Award winner Sarah El-Shaarawi’s essay The Similarities Between Red and Yellow was published by media partner The Tyee.
