The Dalai Lama latest big name to become front page editor
Members of the Toronto Buddhist community helped designed seven different front pages of today’s Sunday Star, before the final one was chosen by the Dalai Lama who is visiting Toronto.
“You can be sure that I will choose the best one,” he joked as he sat with members of his community and Star editors.
It’s not the first time this year people with names better known than most front-page editors, chose the headlines and photos for a Canadian newspaper, “43 million displaced people in the world”.
Last spring, the pop singers, Bono, and Bob Geldof, contributed their opinions for a special edition about Africa of The Globe and Mail.

This blatant gimmickry
This blatant gimmickry should, at the very least, be reciprocated by having the employees of the Sunday Star offer to write the Dalai Lama’s next speech.
He’d never agree, of course. He’s a pro, and he respects his profession. Unlike the editors of the Sunday Star.
