The Globe, Canadian Press among 2015 Online Journalism Awards finalists
The Online News Association has announced its list of finalists for the 2015 Online Journalism Awards.
The Online News Association has announced its list of finalists for the 2015 Online Journalism Awards. Of 994 entries for 14 awards in varying categories from small, medium and large newsrooms, two news organizations and a journalism school professor have been nominated for awards in online reporting and commentary excellence.
For its reporting on the 2014 Ottawa shootings, The Canadian Press is a finalist in the Breaking News, Medium category.
For its reporting on the same, the Globe and Mail is a finalist in the Breaking News, Large category.
In the Online Commentary, Small category, University of British Columbia professor and graduate journalism school director Alfred Hermida is a finalist for an op-ed on the pitfalls of ebola reporting via Twitter and the need for knowledge-based journalism.
In the Student Projects, Large category, a team of students from Sheridan College’s Journalism Broadcast program is nominated for a multimedia project called #WhatAreTheChances?
The awards will be presented on Sept. 26 during the ONA 2015 Conference in Los Angeles. A full list of nominees can be found here.
