The monetary awards are open to any Canadian print and online magazines published west of the Ontario-Manitoba border.

 

The Western Magazine Awards is now accepting submissions

The monetary awards – which are open to any Canadian print and online magazines published west of the Ontario-Manitoba border – are accepting entries in 12 written and six visual categories, as well as lifetime, regional and magazine of the year awards.

This is also the first time the Western Magazine Awards will hand out the Best New Writer Award.

Deadline is March 1, 2013.

There have been a few changes made to the rules this year, so be sure to read carefully before submitting.

The winners will be announced at the annual WMA ceremony on June 21, 2013, at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside.

Tamara Baluja is an award-winning journalist with CBC Vancouver and the 2018 Michener-Deacon fellow for journalism education. She was the associate editor for J-Source from 2013-2014.
