Tyler Harper is leaving The Canadian Press to join TheScore as a supervising editor.

Harper, a sports reporter-editor at CP, has worked at the newswire for six years and will join TheScore on Sept. 2.

“I'm excited for a new role at a very cool newsroom,” Harper told J-Source in an email.

TheScore, which offers a Facebook-style feed of sports news and game data in its mobile app, recently laid off six staff members from its features team and consolidated its mobile and features teams into one group. The Toronto-based company said the layoffs were the result of a strategic change rather than financial hardship and that it would add additional news editors.
