In an era defined by “fake news” and unprecedented political spin, what is the purpose of journalism? How are traditional news outlets adapting to a changing media environment? What can we learn from start-up news outlets about how to produce journalism that audiences find meaningful?
These important questions will be explored during a public panel discussion taking place at 7 p.m. ET on March 6 on Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus. Participants include Kathy English, public editor of the Toronto Star; San Grewal, founder of the Pointer; and Erin Millar, founder and CEO of the Discourse. The event is being live-streamed by faculty and students in Laurier’s Digital Media and Journalism program.
