    Half of UK newspapers doomed: analyst

    Half of the local and regional newspapers in the United Kingdom will close by 2013, an expert witness told a House of Commons Committee.Claire Enders, of Enders Analysis, predicted a 52 per cent drop in advertising revenue for UK newspapers between 2007 and 2012, according to a report in the Guardian.

    Have we hit bottom yet? Two recent media business developments suggest not. La Presse will no longer publish on Sundays, effective June 28, reported the Globe and Mail. Standard and Poor Poor’s deleted Torstar Corp. from its Canadian composite index, effective Monday June 15. (The rating agency deleted Canwest earlier.)

    AP to distribute work by non-profit news orgs
