Political cartoonist Michael de Adder made headlines internationally after he was dropped from Irving-owned Brunswick News Inc. newspapers in the wake of posting a now-viral image of U.S. President Donald Trump golfing over a father and daughter who were found dead in the Rio Grande near Brownsville, Texas. The Toronto Star will now be running his work in their opinion pages.

Personal note: This will be my last month at the Globe. After 10 yrs I've decided to take the buyout. I'm calling it my journalism sabbatical. It's been a privilege and an experience like no other. 1/x

After 21 years of ruining the Saturday mornings of Canadians, yesterday was my last day @globeandmail. I got to go amazing places and tell fascinating stories and I had brilliant colleagues. I’m grateful for many things but especially the people who trusted me with their stories. pic.twitter.com/30NQuYTWYA
— Stephanie Nolen (@snolen) July 5, 2019
Personal note: I am taking a voluntary buyout from @globeandmail effective Aug. 30. It’s been a fun ride — 30 years, 3 cities (Montreal, Ottawa, Washington) and 5,767 bylines. I'll still be writing about economic policy #cdnecon #cdnpolihttps://t.co/wBCE1JUUal

It is with a mix of joy and sadness that I tell you my friend and Montreal bureau partner Ingrid Peritz (@iperitz) is leaving daily fulltime newspaper employment to find a better work-travel-bicycle-ski-life balance.
I am delighted for her but also selfishly glum.
